Biogas

Maximize Profits and Minimize Waste with Expert Biogas Solutions

It is no secret that industrialization of our modern society has had a negative impact on the environment. However, growing social and shareholder pressure to change our reliance on fossil-based energy sources has accelerated the push towards cleaner energy sources to decarbonize our energy supply on a global scale. More than ever before, the world is advancing its resourcefulness and ingenuity to embrace a more sustainable future. “Green” biogas has become an increasingly important part of this future as a proven way to reduce our carbon footprint, attracting billions of dollars from investors to build this new infrastructure.

A growing number of countries and corporations across the globe are aggressively pursuing a net-zero carbon future by 2050 and proven technologies such our anaerobic digestion (AD) systems will play an important role in helping achieve this objective. With wide flexibility to treat a variety of organic wastes, biogas can be upgraded into biomethane (or renewable natural gas “RNG”), a clean, reliable, and renewable source of energy. Biomethane can be injected into the natural gas grid or compressed and used as a transportation fuel. Alternatively, biogas can generate electricity and heat.

Technologies

Horizontal Plug-Flow Digester

Anaerobic digestion of high solids organic wastes

Zenviro Tech’s Horizontal Plug-flow Reactor (HPF) provides ideal microbiological conditions to deliver efficient conversion of feedstock to biogas in high-solid and high-organic load applications. The reactor is slowly agitated and constantly heated, maximizing microbial contact with feedstocks and ensuring a high gas yield with a dependable, uninterrupted operation.

Robust Systems Ensure Plant Safety and Continuous Operation

  • Steam injection or in-wall heating elements maintain precise and consistent digester temperature loading
  • Gas outlet instrumentation measures and controls gas flow to downstream equipment
  • Optional double-membrane gas dome or insulated concrete digester roof
  • Pressurized access door provides ground-level access and an efficient cleaning cycle
  • Access Door can be sized to accommodate vehicles like a skid-steer
  • All bearings and seal systems are accessible from outside the digester

Agitator Designed for Performance

  • Maximizes microbe contact with minimum foam formation by breaking the feedstock surface level
  • Continuously monitors speed and torque with frequency-controlled drive for better control and system stability
  • Eliminates need for internal bearings by floating on the digestate surface

Continuous Stirred-Tank Reactor

Anaerobic digestion of low-solid waste

Zenviro Tech’s Continuous Stirred-tank Reactor (CSTR) is the anaerobic digestion solution for low solid organic waste. Our reactors have a highly flexible design for varying processing capacity and waste streams including bolted tanks that can be customized to efficiently fit any processing capacity; and a customizable roof that can be installed with steel fabrication and a central, top-down mixer or a double-membrane roof for gas storage.

Design Features:

  • CSTRs can be used as main digesters for low solid waste or as a secondary digester used for storing recirculate and capturing biogas from residual organic material.
  • The central, top-down mixer for steel roof CSTRs efficiently creates the ideal mixing pattern to maximize heat transfer from the heating coils, homogenize the substrate for consistent gas production, and minimize risk of solids dropping out to the bottom of the digester.
  • The gas-tight, double membrane for membrane roof CSTRs creates a buffer between the anaerobic digesters and the gas utilization technology.
  • Pressure safety devices and level sensors ensure safe tank operation. For discharge, the CSTR has an unloading valve for filling trucks.
  • Pressurized access door provides ground-level access and an efficient cleaning cycle
  • Access Door can be sized to accommodate vehicles like a skid-steer

Digestate Treatment

Create valuable end-products from digestate.

Cost-effective digestate management is an important part of the success of each project. Successful biogas plants both minimize the required volume to remove from the project site and create a value add from the digestate. As a systems integrator, Zenviro Tech is committed to providing the right solution to meet the needs of your plant. We have experience with designing several methods of digestate treatment technology and integrating then into the digestion plant. These technologies range from mechanical dewatering, MBR’s, RO filtration, and composting.

With the right technology processes in place, the digestate can be transformed from a limited system byproduct into a valuable biofertilizer.
